Overview

AM LLC has an immediate opening for a full time Infection Prevention Consultant to support public health programming in Gurnee, Illinois. 30% local travel required, with the possibility of travel throughout the state. The candidate will work remotely from a home office and perform in person scheduled site visits at long term care facilities, correctional facilities, and other congregate settings. 

  

The successful Infection Prevention Consultant will provide infection prevention expertise and guidance for various settings throughout the state. The role will provide guidance and support, monitor COVID-19 cases, collaborate with local health departments, perform outbreak investigations, and deliver training.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize infection prevention expertise to provide guidance and support to state and local agencies and congregate settings throughout the state.
  • Monitor COVID-19 cases occurring in congregate settings.
  • Share evidence-based practices, improvement strategies, and educational resources with state and local agencies, long term care facilities, correctional facilities, and various other settings.
  • Perform outbreak investigations in collaboration with local health departments.
  • Perform remote and in person site visits to long term care facilities, correctional facilities, and other congregate care facilities.
  • Deliver training on infection prevention, control measures, and COVID-19 mitigation strategies.
  • Report and document all interactions and actions taken, as well as 
  • Possess knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for providing the full continuum of COVID-19 response services (including disease surveillance, case investigation, contact tracing, laboratory testing, immunizations, and general public health practice).
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders.

Qualifications

Educational and Professional Requirements: 

 

  • Associate's degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Must hold a certification in infection prevention and control (CIC) from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC)
  • Experience in communicable disease outbreak investigation required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a certified infection prevention control consultant in a healthcare setting.
  • 5 years or more experience as a certified infection prevention control consultant in a healthcare setting preferred.

General Requirements:

  • "Making Contact: A Training for COVID-19 Contact Tracers"(ASTHO) completed by date of hire
  • Experience with COVID-19 response programs
  • Experience within a healthcare setting
  • Ability to exhibit a professional, positive attitude and work ethic
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required and ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress
  • Ability to show empathy to distressed individuals
  • Proficiency in using Google Suite
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Critical thinking and sound judgment required
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Proficiency with computers

  • PC with Windows 10 or Mac with Mac OS 10.15 or newer

  • Must have a quiet, dedicated workspace
